Laurie O. Robinson
Laurie Robinson directs the Master of Science Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Criminology. Since 2001, she has also served as a Distinguished Senior Scholar in Penn's Jerry Lee Center of Criminology. For the Jerry Lee Center, she heads the Forum on Crime & Justice, which educates Washington policymakers about promising state and local approaches to addressing crime.
Laurie Robinson served as an Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice from 1993 to 2000. In that capacity, she headed the Office of Justice Programs and served on the Advisory Board for the National Institute of Corrections. She spearheaded initiatives for the Department of Justice in the areas of prisons and corrections, community-based crime control, law enforcement technology, and sex offenders; and she oversaw the largest increase in federal spending on criminal justice research in the nation's history. Prior to joining the Justice Department, Laurie Robinson served for 14 years as Director of the American Bar Association's Section of Criminal Justice. She serves on numerous justice-related national boards, including those of the Vera Institute of Justice, the Police Foundation, the National Center for Victims of Crime, the Constitution Project, and George Mason University's Administration of Justice Program.
